If you have a busy workweek and a weekends that are full of activities with family and friends, you’re probably eating many of your meals on the run while longing for something hot and nourishing. Many people who lead hectic lives have learned that it’s just as easy to cook a lot of food at once and save it to eat throughout the week as it is to prepare a small meal, and therefore spend a portion of their Sunday afternoons cooking food to eat throughout the week. If you are wondering what types of meals you can prepare during a Sunday afternoon that will hold up in your french door fridge throughout the week, here are a few ideas that you can use for inspiration.

Smoked Salmon Pasta

This may sound like a complicated dish to prepare, but it’s really quite easy. All that you need to do is make a white sauce that you can store in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it. On the evening that you want to eat this particular dinner, all you have to do is heat the sauce, cook the pasta and stir in the smoked salmon. You could also make a double portion of this dinner for a Sunday evening and put the rest in the refrigerator to microwave on another night.

Tuna Casserole

Tuna casserole is another great dish that heats us easily as leftovers and holds up well for several days in the refrigerator. If you prefer salmon over tuna, you can easily substitute canned salmon. This works well when paired with a simple green salad and a dinner role, but those who are watching calories can easily leave the dinner role out.

Chicken Salad

A well-prepared chicken salad served cold is an excellent mealtime option for warm spring and summer evenings. This can be quickly prepared on a Sunday afternoon and place in the refrigerator for later consumption. The addition of black sesame seeds to chicken salad adds an exquisite accent.

Crockpot Potato Soup

Putting a few basic ingredients into a crockpot on a Sunday morning will result in a delicious soup within eight hours. Potatoes, chicken broth, cream of mushroom soup, green onions, chopped bacon, minced garlic and freshly ground pepper make up the base of this soup, and sour cream and creamed cheese are mixed in when it is almost finished. This soup is hearty enough to make an excellent dinner in its own right when paired with a fresh green salad and garlic bread.

Lasagne

This old standby is a regular in many homes and can easily be heated up and served with salad for a quick and easy weekday dinner. But did you know that you could also prepare lasagne in a crock pot? It’s very tasty this way because the meat and sauce benefit greatly from the slow cooking process, and the end result holds up nicely in the refrigerator.

Some people swear they don’t need any appliances – they like to make everything the old fashioned way. They spend hours slicing and dicing vegetables instead of using a food processor and don’t see any reason to do things differently. If you have all the time in the world or plenty of hands in the kitchen then you have the luxury of doing things that way but most folks have limited time and resources – if we crave a barbeque dish then pulled pork in a slow cooker is the ideal way to have our cake and eat it too.

Making barbeque pork can take hours, if you even have the necessary skill and equipment. That’s why certain barbeque stands are legendary – they’ve been doing it for generations and have perfected the art and the science. With a slow cooker the science is taken care of – by letting the appliance do the work, you can focus on crafting an amazing barbeque sauce and then spend the rest of your day making fantastic side dishes, preparing for a party or doing whatever else you’d like. There’s no need to spend time doing what the appliance does for you.

The same holds true with an ice cream or margarita machine – it can take a lot of time to craft frozen drinks or dessert but with the right appliance you are freed up to do other things and you are relaxed and ready to entertain or spend quality time with family and friends. A slow cooker is great for all kinds of meals and the best thing about it is that you can assemble a meal in the morning, head out for work and return to the enticing aroma of a home cooked meal after a long day – it’s almost like magic.

Observations:

Though there were loads of freshly caught seafood, there were no hint of “market” smell in there, which was really surprising. I mean, you’d smell the fish when up close but it wasn’t like as if you are in a wet market.

It was a neat idea that you can request for a certain dish or you can tell the chef to cook it the way you want it too.

Lots of choices really.. and if you happen to be allergic to any kind of seafood, the other sections like Asian and Japanese are always ready to serve you.

I always had a nice time dining at Marriott because the food and service won’t let you down. Totally worth it!

There’s Plenty of Fish in the Sea at Sentro 177 that will surely find a home to your family’s repertoire of top picks whether you’re aiming to be healthy or simply finding comfort from your all-time favorite seafood choices. Guaranteed low in saturated fat, these dishes are not only irresistible, they’re also good for the heart.

At Sentro 1771, tasty definitely means healthy too especially if you’re having smoked milkfish spring rolls (P270) which could serve as a filling and satisfying appetizer or entree. A festive combination of smoked milkfish, salted egg, mustard greens, onions and tomato that are rolled like spring rolls, it’s served with slightly tangy vinaigrette for some zing. An explosion of color, texture, and balance of flavors, it’s a lip smacking dish minus the guilt.

Equally-appealing and filled nothing but goodness of the sea, seafood sinigang sa miso (P250) is a classic favorite minus the meat but never lacking with mouthwatering elements such as gindara, milkfish, and shrimps seasoned with miso for more depth and flavor. Good food begets fresh and all-natural ingredients, and that’s the promise of this dish. It’s spirited, chunky, and heartwarming especially that the broth is made from scratch. Plus, it has chockfull of colorful diced veggies from tomatoes, okra, taro corms, daikon, water spinach, and eggpplant stewed in tamarind. And as a charming signature tradition, you get the chance to adjust the level of sourness of the soup by sipping and tasting it before serving.

Fried usually gets a bad rap as something calorie-laden, but not Sentro 1771’s Rated GG or galunggong (grilled mackerel scad, P230 and P445). Yes, fried healthy food does exist at Sentro 1771 as this dish is fried in olive oil, filleted and generously sprinkled with toasted bits of garlic. Executive Chef Vicky Rose Pacheco not only takes pride in creating another certified Sentro 1771 original, the lowly fish was a given a rightful and impressive reputation considering galunggong is a rich source of protein and zinc.

If your family is in for smart eating, count on Sentro 1771 in satisfying you with something healthy and tasty too. There’s nothing quite anything else like a brown rice that can make a marvelous pair with these amazing, healthy choices, so it’s a good thing that Sentro 1771 has this in the menu. So whether you’re a healthy eater or seekers of all-natural whole foods, find these Sentro 1771 dishes indulgent, never leaving behind the taste and joy of eating while bringing a new appreciation for something deliciously low-calorie.

Native of the pristine unpolluted waters of Tasmania, this famed Atlantic Salmon makes up only around 1.5% of the world’s salmon production. Enriched with omega-3 and proteins, discover the richness of this Atlantic salmon variety with selections like Roasted Herbs Crusted Salmon with Creamy Spinach , Peppered Salmon Steak with Cognac Pepper Cream Sauce and more.

The perfect sweet conclusion is the luscious Hot Chocolate Soup.
